Tea and Tunes

Hello again! I was scrolling through my ‘watch later’ list on YouTube earlier today when I stumbled upon this music mix. It’s not going to be everyone’s cuppa, but I’m going to share it anyway. Without further ado, here’s an electroswing music mix from Leah Brown Music’s channel. Check it out and subscribe if you like what you see!

Coffee and Tunes: Steampunk Edition

As John and I drink our morning coffee and make last minute costume adjustments in our mad scramble to prepare for today’s Steampunk and Makers Fair, these are the tunes we’re checking out to prep our minds and spirits. I hope you enjoy them!

OK, this last longer musical piece has ‘experimental’ in the tag line. So prepare yourself for something a little bit different.

Morning Tunes

The coffee pot has been emptied twice, as per usual, by my husband and me. My psyche could probably use another cup but I probably won’t give in. Maybe. But since the coffee is gone, I could hardly call this post coffee and tunes! So since it /is/ still morning here, and the sun is shining quite happily today, morning tunes it shall be.

Blackmill! Yea!

And Electus! 😀

And the longer piece…

Now Listening To…

Steampunk and coffee and the ones you love around you…great way to start the day, I think. These are the videos I want to share with you today. My day is chaos already and I haven’t even really started. I’m already tackling several projects at once while getting ready to go to work. It’s no surprise I can’t remember stuff, I guess. LOL I hope you enjoy these tunes. Just some relatively norma

I’m particularly enjoying this last one. I really like the Fluidified channel on YouTube.

More Steampunk Stuff

We attended the Steampunk ball last night. Here are a few more photos from the event, if you are interested. Most of my photos are of vendors at the event. I have a not-so-smart phone and it’s really slow when it comes to taking and editing photos. I promised a friend I’d share the photos I was able to get so she could see them. Maybe you guys will enjoy them, too? I hope so. The next post will have tunes and it’ll be posted later today.

These are the vendors we saw when we first went in to the event.

Now Listening To Victory Songs

I’m finally able to rest from my labor. It was a labor of love, indeed, but after one month of sewing Steampunk outfits, I’m seriously in need a break. We made it to the event. It was great fun and here’s a photo to prove it, along with some tunes I think express my opinion of all the work we put into it. The baby goats and my husband did tackle a few tasks of their own to help make the outfits super awesome. 🙂

If you read my blog and you have no clue what my little family looks like, here's your chance. :) We made most of the stuff we're wearing.

On with the tunes…

OK, so this one’s not my usual kind of song but the title and the music fits. I feel like I’ve run a month-long marathon and was thankful just to read the finish line. “Winning” doesn’t matter so much when you felt like you wouldn’t make it through to the end in the first place. LOL

And now this one kind of fits where I am now, at least at the start. I just want to chill for about a week. And as the piece builds, that will be where I start tomorrow. I don’t have the week I need to chill but I can take it a bit easier tomorrow. 🙂

I hope you’ll enjoy these tunes and I hope the photo makes you smile, at the very least. Now, I’m going to sign off and get some much needed sleep. I was up until 3:30 this morning finishing up my husband’s jacket. See y’all next time!

Clockwork Fun Tunes

I’ve been working again today on our steampunk costumes. Today was hat and medal day. I finished up the one medal I started working on and created another. I finished up the hat for our youngest baby goat and I’m going to get our middle baby goat’s hat finished or very nearly so. I’m so tired from all the work I’ve been putting into the costumes. I’m really hoping I’ll be able to have enough energy to enjoy the event! *chuckle*

Anyway, here are some tunes that seem to follow the lines of steampunk. Well, in my opinion, they do.

In the case of this next video, it’s the video that’s more steampunk than the song (which indeed has been overplayed) but I believe it’s worth your time for the video. In case you’re wondering, the video is a short movie posted elsewhere on facebook.

And if you’ve ever seen Howl’s Moving castle, you’ll understand why this one’s here. If you haven’t, then you should definitely check it out.

There are so many great songs out there! I really can’t post them all. I’m going to finish my tea, which is now lukewarm, and see if I can recover from creating hats. I think the girls’ hats are done and I made another medal for my husband’s costume. So there are three medals now and one official looking chain ornament. He just needs his jacket. o.O I think I might stay sane. Maybe. Thanks for listening and reading. You guys are awesome!

Reading and Chilling

I’ve been reading one of my favorite books to our two youngest baby goats. “Paradise Lane” by William Taylor has been on my top ten list since I first read it in middle school. It’s a bit different than what I usually read to them. It’s a drama. I usually read fantasies, fairy tales, or classics to them. I know I’ll have to fight my way through an onset of tears when we get to the climax of the book but it’s definitely worth all that. I don’t think the book is in print anymore, but if you happen to luck up and find a copy, you should definitely give it a try.

Here’s a chillstep mix for you. I hope you enjoy it! I’ll be listening while I drink my tea and cut out a pattern for a formal military-style jacket for my husband. It’s colonial in style but I’m going to do my best to add a hundred years or so to it. If anyone is insterested, I’ll be posting photos on my other blog, Kittles Family Artworks. This is also the reason I haven’t been blogging as often. I’ve got to finish getting 5 steampunk costumes together by next Wednesday. I’m pretty sure I can do it and I’m certainly giving it my all.

Now Listening To…

My focus this month is Steampunk. We have an opportunity to go to a Steampunk event and I’m busy putting five costumes together. And I am always wondering where my time goes! *wry chuckle* So I thought I’d look for some appropriate tunes.

OK, the next one made me laugh at one point and I pretty much smiled through the rest of the song. Interesting…and probably not everyone’s cup of tea…but I thought it was share-worthy.

Don’t know much about Steampunk? Not sure what to wear to a Steampunk event? The artwork shown with the music in this video is just for you.

Hope you enjoy the above tunes. But since they’re not much for winding down, I’ll add a chill mix.

Pianola Complete and Complete Tunes

Well, I finished my display project today. Pianola is finally complete! I’ll share the photo of the completed project and if you’re interested in the steps I took, you can check out my Kittles Family Artworks blog posts (Making Displays, Making Displays Part 2, and Making Displays Part 3) and the wonderful blog post by BluKatKraft that started my journey.

Completed Mannequin Head Display ~ She has a sort of vintage, Steampunk, distressed kind of feel to her but the makeup and the hair also seem sort of alien. She’ll definitely catch the eyes of people passing by!

And without further ado, some tunes to complete the post!
